In Your Face Faith

“Rio, a long standing member of this Posse — I call her my hero because this story that she shared with us is one of the best demonstrations of standing in your faith, no matter what the odds, I’ve ever seen…it’s IN YOUR FACE FAITH I call it. Standing in your truth, holding to your convictions no matter what the “outside circumstances” seem to proclaim. It’s knowing that what you see and experience, as Reverend Michael Beckwith put it, “isn’t reality…it’s your perception of reality!” That’s a perception that can change, under your direction, through the pure unsullied application of ‘IN YOUR FACE FAITH’. I read once that a conviction isn’t a conviction if it can be shaken. One of the three wishes I made the other day was: To always, always, always be able to demonstrate the Faith that flies in the face of all outward appearances to the contrary of the truth I felt during Prayer.

“Last Monday Paul McCartney performed his show at The Staples Center. His first show was back in May (which was during Revelation) and I was sad that I didn’t get to see him then. So, when I heard in July that he was returning to Los Angeles, I was sure that I would be going. I asked a long time family friend (who always gets me floor seats to any event/concert I wish to go to – that’s how I saw Bruce Springsteen) if he could get me tickets to see Paul. He said “Sure, call me at the end of September and I’ll take care of it” and I just assumed that I would be going.
At the end of September when I called, he told me that the guy he always got tickets from, died two days before I called, so there would be no tickets available from now on. My first thought was “Good, now Roy can surely help since he’s in the invisible”. It was at this point I realized that my help must come from God, and not from ‘outside’ sources. If I really believe that God is my Source, then I would be able to get to this concert which I truly needed to see.
It was somewhere around this time that Fletch sent out the e-mail he got from Garrett Lambert about Jasmine, a six and a half year old little girl who wanted nothing else but to see Paul McCartney, asking The Posse if they knew a way to get tickets. When I was six years old, I had the opportunity to go with my babysitters to Denver to see The Beatles, but my dad said “No” (had a serious resentment against dad for that one). I wrote Fletch back saying that if I knew all I had to do was ask The Posse for tickets, I would have done that a long time ago.
Then three days later, Fletch sent out his e-mail “Demonstrate or We Quit” from his personal experience during his Eckankar days. It was this e-mail (along with previous discussions from the ‘Feelingization Master’) that led me to do the work. Every night, for four nights, before I went to bed, I saw and ‘felt’ myself walking into the Staples Center, handing the guy tickets, going onto the floor section and watching Paul McCartney in concert.
As I was ‘watching’ the concert I became so filled with gratitude that tears welled up in me. Then I would go to sleep. I didn’t try and figure out how the tickets were coming or who I was going with, I just felt the gratitude of the experience. So the next day, when I found out K-EARTH 101 was having a contest for Paul McCartney tickets, I was not that surprised.
I had already tried calling to be ‘the winner’ before; but then I found out that the tickets they were giving away were for The Pond in Anaheim, and for the Las Vegas show, both of which were on the nights of Rev. Michaels Meditation retreat (which I had already committed to); so, I stopped ‘trying to win’ tickets, since I knew I wouldn’t be able to use them.
After the Meditation Retreat I was still ‘planning’ on going to the concert, although I still didn’t know how. As I got in my car, to go get an oil change, I turned on the radio. I heard “This hour, two tickets to see Paul McCartney tonight at the Staples Center! Listen for your chance to call and win!” I looked at what I was wearing and thought to myself, “I could go to the concert in this. Cool, I’m there”.
So, I went about my business while listening to the radio at the same time. I went to visit my friend Lydia and her dog Leon who live in Topanga. I had her turn on the radio, and we heard “Be caller number five now to win”. So, I called. The phone started ringing and I knew I was caller number five. As the guy answered the phone, my cell phone cut out and I was disconnected! I couldn’t believe it! It was already 4:00 p.m., and this was the last chance to win tickets! How could my phone cut out?! I felt so disappointed, yet I still felt that I would be going. Lydia fed me dinner, at which point I thought, “Well it’s a good thing I’m eating now, since I won’t have time later before the concert”.
As I headed down the hill to my mechanics’, I called the radio station, and the DJ answered! I said to him “Are you going to be giving away any more Paul McCartney tickets? Because I know I was caller number five and I got disconnected when you answered and my cell cut out!” He told me that he would be giving away the LAST pair of tickets before 5pm, and said “Listen at 10 minutes to 5, and call then, that’s the best I can do for you, I wish I could do more, good luck”.
So, when I got to my mechanics, I asked him to turn on the radio, and at 10 min to 5:00 pm, JoJo Kincaid said, “Be caller number seven right now, for the last pair of Paul McCartney tickets to the Staples Center tonight”. I called and the phone was busy, and was busy and was busy. I was about to give up, but I figured I’d at least call and ‘thank Jo Jo’ for letting me know ‘when’ to call even if I didn’t win the tickets. I mean I was SURE they’d already found caller 7 when the phone started ringing….
He answered the phone “Hello, K-R-T-H” I said ‘Hello’ and he said, “Would you like to go see Paul McCartney tonight?” I started jumping up and down and screaming “Yes! Yes! Yes!” He said that I needed to be at the studio by 7:00 pm to pick up the tickets. I was in Woodland Hills at the time! The studio is on Fairfax and Venice. It was already 5:00 pm and my car was in the middle of an oil change. I figured, “No problem”, now who do I take? I asked a couple of people, who couldn’t go, and then I called Fletch.
I asked him if he wanted to go, since I got the ‘idea’ about the feelingization’ from his e-mail, and he said “No, of course not. Why don’t you take Jasmine?” I said, “I’d love to take her, but I’ve never met her and I have no Idea how to get in touch with her. Do you have her number?” He said that he didn’t but that he’d try and get in touch with Garrett, who’d made the request to The Posse on her behalf in the first place. I said “Cool, have him give me a call”. About five minutes later I got a call from Garrett, and we started coordinating a way to get Jasmine to see Paul McCartney with me!!!
Now, mind you, I’d never met this little girl or her parents. These people trusted me with their daughter (or rather they trusted God through me). Jasmine’s dad Doric called me, and we met at the radio station. I met Jasmine, and looking at her was like looking into my own eyes, at her age. I felt as if I were taking myself to the show.
We got in the car and listened to Beatles music all the way to the Staples Center. When we got there, we walked in, I handed the guy my tickets; we walked around to the seats (which were two rows off of the floor). As I looked around at the lights, the people, Paul, and Jasmine, my heart filled with gratitude and my eyes with tears. This was my vision manifested! Tonight two little girls got to have their dream of seeing Paul McCartney come true: Jasmine and me.” Rio
