Here is today’s Heartfelt Blessing:

The next time a difficulty arises, greet it with eagerness and joyful anticipation, the same way you would any game you’re very good at and know you can win, and then watch how this simple change of mind will cause “the problem or challenge to dissolve.

This will take practice (remember, practice makes permanent) and you may have to start with the smaller problems or challenges and work your way up to handling the bigger ones. Once you have mastered the technique, you will find it to be the perfect problem solver for any problem or challenge that comes along.

Self Pity

Yield not to the temptation of pity, self-pity or having pity for another. We’ve all experienced pitiful moments, weeks, months, years or maybe even lifetimes but “Pitiful is the person who is afraid of taking risks. Perhaps this person will never be disappointed or disillusioned; perhaps he or she won’t suffer the way people do when they have a dream to follow.” Paulo Coelho.

Life provides us with experiences and challenges that we need, and not necessarily those we desire, to become the very best that we can become, spiritually.

God wanted me to tell you, it shall be well with you this coming year.

No matter how much your enemies try this year, they will not succeed.

You have been destined to make it and you shall surely achieve all your goals this year….

For the remainder of 2009, all your agonies will be diverted and victory and prosperity will be incoming in abundance.

“Don’t worry about your “negative” thoughts. They’re par for the course in the jungles of time and space. Change them when you can, but when they overrun you, let them run. Because no matter how persistent they are, you can always spend just 5 minutes a day, in a quiet place, doing your best to imagine your dreams as if they’ve already come true; seeing yourself happy, laughing, smiling from ear to ear. This will be enough, it’s always enough, even if while you’re imagining, the negative thoughts creep in. After 5 minutes, leave it alone.

You’re in time and space for one reason: to thrive. There’s no 50/50 about it.

You are OF the Creator, BY the Creator, and now a Creator yourself, alive on a stage YOU designed for your own adventures. You were not an afterthought and you didn’t design it to just eke by.

THOUGHTS TO THINK ON

Seeds to grow on and to contemplate or meditate upon as you go about your busy lives today. We’re all, I guess, are endeavoring to become a truth unto ourselves (if we’re not already there)…”[S]o that wherever we are, we recognize presence of God…” and see God in other people.

We focus a lot on how powerful our thoughts and actions are and in so doing, we overlook one of the most powerful killers of dreams, our words. In fact, many of the dream-killer words we use, we do so in casual conversation with not much thought of what we’re really saying.

At one point in my life, when I had a few more challenges than normal, I got into a very bad habit of replying, when asked how I was doing, “Oh, you know, when it rains, it pours,” or “It could be better.” I’m not sure why I used to say that really, other than I’d heard it so many times before or that that was how I felt or my looking for some kind of sympathy. I do know the results of those responders were devastating. Not only did it keep raining, it began to storm!

Do you know that we speak a lot of our maladies in our life into existence? When you can fully embrace and understand the evidence of the power of belief and then understand that when we speak something, no matter what, we give power to it. We increase our belief in something when we speak it.

When someone asks you how you’re doing and you reply, “I think I’m coming down with something,” what you’re doing is speaking into existence, actually contributing to the illness that you end up with. The same thing goes for the other words that people speak like, “I don’t ever have any money,” “I’m always so tired,” “I’ve got the worst luck,” and on and on.

What words are you speaking? Listen to yourself, whether it’s your words to others. See the connection between what you’re saying and the life you’re experiencing?

Regardless of the religious faith, the spoken word is acknowledged as having great power. “Hindu writings tell of Yogis that have used mantras to light fires, materialize physical objects like food and even influence the outcome of battles.
In the Christian Bible, we find these words in the Gospel of Mark, ‘those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.’” Now, that’s worth giving thought to…

Giving…Second Thoughts

Excerpt from My Days of Soul Journal…

“Another thing occurred that started a few weeks before. In a conversation with another elderly African Eckist, it was mentioned about her attending a spiritual seminar in San Diego; she was not comfortable (financially) with the arrangement she’d made. I don’t know what happened to me, my heart, and I offered to let her ride and stay with me and my husband, no charge whatsoever.

As the days progressed, I wondered what had I done, what made me extend the offer so easily, as I did so without even thinking. Then I began to have second thoughts and all kinds of selfish thoughts began to gnaw at me. Another person mentioned that she was infringing on our right to privacy (me and Tom); using the weekend as a mini vacation, etc.

Later, I began to contemplate on why I was feeling these things. Then it came to me that I did what I did on the spur of the moment because I was being me, Soul. I made the gesture with love, for love for another Soul who was in need and I did it without thinking and with no thought of reward.

At the moment, it felt good. My question is why did these negative thoughts permeate my being and make me feel that I’d made a gross error in extending myself afterwards?

In the past I have helped her and her family in many ways (as others have helped me) but each time I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I felt she showed no appreciation or gratitude. Then it hit me, truth, that I wasn’t pure in my giving; I was clearly looking for a “reward” in the way of a ‘thank you’.

My observation is that I’m having to learn lesson over and over and over. It has to stop. It has to stop. What I considered common courtesy it seems is I’m breaking a spiritual law.

Nevertheless, I will continue to extend a kind word of thanks to another and in some way, small or large, will go out of my way to tell them or show them how grateful I am. That’s me.

You know, after hearing the message today on recognizing the divine in you and in others, I scraped my first entry because it was downright petty, selfish and small of me. I was ashamed but I saw the light. My thoughts and behavior were not worthy of being a Universal Spirit, a student practicing the spiritual laws after all.

At worship service today. I did, however, accept her gesture in donating something toward shipping books to Nigeria. I accepted it with love and gratitude and will send the books out over the next few days. And yes, I plan to say thank you and let her know how grateful I am for the gift.

At present, I’m not at all happy with my behavior or the thoughts that continually pop up from inside of me. I try to get along with others; I try to be more refined in the presence of others; I always have a kind word to offer others and I try not to wear my problems on my sleeve or bemoan my lot in life. Nor do I boast or brag or about my blessings either.

And yes, I have been guilty of all the above; yes I’ve learned better but still there is something that I continually do that, in my minds eye, offends people…I ‘try’ too hard.

The teachings of Eckankar remind us to “just be the true and authentic, self” that you are, God’s Universal Spirit… I’m still not clear who I am, insofar as this society. But, yes, I know I’m Soul – a divine spark of God but I guess the personality of Soul of me is what I’m still ignorant of.

I know that not everybody is going to “like” me but I would like to know what attributes I show that cause such a dislike of me so. Some people have said that I always seem so “upbeat and happy”; others say that I’m “aloof; a loner”. My sister says I’m mean, spiteful and hateful. I’ve been accused of not getting along well with others and on the other hand it’s said that I’m warm, loving and friendly”.

I guess at times I’m all of these things but the truth of the matter is that I long to truly be me, Soul, and to know me–Soul–from the inside out. I want to work on the areas that I’m lacking, to any degree so that I can live as Soul.”

Inspiration for Today September 16, 2009

If times are hard for you during the day, try to spiritualize it by singing or chanting the word HU, OM/AUM, or some other holy word. But sing/chant it with Love for God.

This will lift you and help you through. It will make you a better person, in all ways and in all places, for all beings.

People come into your life for a reason, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is–you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a reason it’s usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They come to assist you through difficulty; to provide you with guidance and support; to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem heaven sent–and they are!

They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die; sometimes they just walk a way; sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met–our desire fulfilled–their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it’s now time to move on.

When people come into your life for a season, it’s because your turn has come to share, grow and learn. Then they may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

BELIEVE IT! IT’S REAL! BUT, ONLY FOR A SEASON…

Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons–those thing you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Our job is to accept the lesson, love the person/persons anyway, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It’s said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. Thank you for being part of my life…for a season. For it’s people like you who make people like me, like people like you!
