10 Simple Steps To Self Improvement

by Tradepla
When you came to the 40-year stage in your life, you will suddenly realize many things. You get to ask yourself questions. How will it be when I get to the end of my life? How do I feel about the life I lived?

Then someone gave you some self improvement articles while telling you that it is not yet too late. Does that mean anything to you? You bet it does. The feeling of anxiety that will come next is just normal. Then you will feel confused because life had felt so good. You were happy, had a successful marriage, two wonderful kids, and a job you reasonably enjoyed. What was my problem?

It was your glass ceiling. The “practical” and fear-based side that had convinced you all along that your passion and dreams had died.

Here are top 10 basic steps that can help you move your life to the next level. This self improvement article will assist you in breaking through your own glass ceiling to create the life you really want.

1. Give yourself permission to dream. You probably had no problem dreaming as a kid. What happened to your ability to imagine and dream about what you want and who you want to be? When was the last time you caught yourself daydreaming and appreciated it?

2. Stop looking outside yourself for happiness. Look inside. Increase your self-awareness. Get curious about who you are at the core. Cultivate and nurture a relationship with yourself.

3. Cover the basics. Take the time to address your personal needs. How can you focus on thriving in your life if you are in survival mode? Set up that meeting with a financial advisor, get your space organized, clean up the details that are wasting your energy.

4. Embrace your past and move on. Shift from “why it happened” to what I want to do about it now. Asking ” what” is not a very empowering question. Asking what or how I want to proceed can be much more powerful and produce forward movement.

5. Remember that you are not alone. It is easy to feel overwhelmed with life. Seek support. Read more self improvement articles. They might help you figure about some things that are puzzling you.

6. Remember gratitude. Count your blessings. What is working right in you life? Make a list. Set aside a bit of time everyday to acknowledge what or who you are grateful for. The more you practice gratitude, the more you attract into your life things to be grateful for.

7. Court your passion. You still have your passions though it has been a while since you may have felt it flow. When are you the most alive and joyful in your life? Who do you most admire and what do they inspire in you?

8. Take action and take a risk. All the inspiration in the world is not enough to make you move your life to the next level. It takes inspired action to do that.

9. Keep breathing. You probably forget to take deep full breaths. We have all learned to constrict our breathing in response to stress. According to many self improvement articles, we not only need oxygen to stay alive, we need oxygen to give us energy and keep us healthy. Right now take 5 deep, full breaths.

10. Have fun. Call a friend, take a bubble bath, take yourself to an art museum or schedule a whole day out in nature. Put on some great music and dance till you drop.

The attitude is the measure, truly. Life comes at us hard sometimes but it’s the attitude taken that sustains us as we go through whatever it is we’re going through. I know. I had a not so good attitude not too long ago about a situation. Ego, the mind, got in the way and then emotions, negative ones. The situation seemed daunting and the more I thought on it, the worst it became. When I let the ego go and changed my attitude and saw my responsibility about that particular situation, like magic, everything went rather smoothly. The situation was still there, of course, but my attitude toward it was the key that changed the situation. Change your attitude. Change your life!

When I am able to see an improvement over yesterday, even if it’s small, I have grown a little and I’ve taken a first step forward in taking charge of my own world. When problems arise in my life, I take them in stride. I no longer allow problems or worries twist me into a nervous wreck. When I truly listen, with my heart and not my mind, I am able to hear God speaking to me. The voice I hear is not a roaring sound from on high but a still small voice coming from within. God speaks to me simply, down to earth, maybe an inner nudge on how to do something in a different way or view a situation or circumstance from another perspective, the kind of help that I can relate to.

Each morning I start my day with gratitude! I make a written list of everything that I’m truly grateful for, from the subtle to the profound. Sometimes I make a mental list. I even find the courage to be grateful for the challenges I’m facing at any given time. This helps me to see myself being transformed into the Spiritual Being that I am. Consciously what happens is when I begin to change my inner space, my thoughts, and redirect my emotions, away from what I’ve been doing and getting the same result, it’s then and only then that I begin to see the light and gain the light of understanding.

The direct benefit for me is that when I begin to practice what the light has given me. Does it happen overnight, a week, month, year, five years, 10 years, maybe not, but over time, the more I put into practice, or even have the intent to practice my enlightenment, the closer I get to being the best spiritual being that I can be.

Good evening and thank you for being part of this evening’s Community Night. Hopefully, from the speakers before me, you’ve learned some valuable techniques on how to survive spiritually in today’s times.

Tonight I’ll be sharing with you about receiving Divine help. Divine help is around to help you all the time—whether you are aware of it or not, It’s there, if you know how to open your heart to receive it. Whenever something comes into your daily life or life seemingly go wrong (not the we planned); or a challenge or problem of some kind that you just don’t have a clue as about how it will be solved or resolved…it could be finances, relationships, losing or finding a job, or health issues. I can relate to all of these situations and many others, as I am sure that a lot of you can too.

Tonight we’ve heard a lot about the Inner Master, the highest state of consciousness that helps us on the inner, often in the dream state or in our daily contemplations or meditations. People from different spiritual backgrounds and religions have different names of the Master whom they serve. A great Master said, taken from a book entitled, “How to Survive Spiritually in Our Times,” writes,
“In times of need, whether in our need or someone else’s, Divine Spirit comes from many different sources,” through people, friends, and even strangers; a nudge or intuition; a song being played on the radio, billboards, something you’ve overheard, maybe something someone said about how to do something better.

Before getting on with what I’m sharing tonight, let me preface it first by stating that I do not use the teachings that I practice necessarily to receive healings or miracles, but I did receive a Divine healing on my second visit to the Worldwide Seminar last year in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is where people of like-mind gather from all over the world to hear the Living Master speak, and to share and to learn and to grow. The first seminar I attended I could hardly walk. I was afflicted with a myriad of all kinds of ailments, debilitating arthritis, osteoarthritis. A couple of weeks beforehand I had fractured three toes but I attended the seminar wearing surgical boot and crutches and without the blessings of my doctor. The most embarrassing thing that happened was that I slept through most of the talk the Spiritual Leader gave—on the shoulder of a total stranger, who, after the poignant talk, gently lifted my head from his shoulders after the talk had ended.

My health had improved a lot when it came time to attend the following year. I was without crutches, but I continued to have severe lower back pain. The pain was so intense. It radiated from my lower back, down in my legs and feet, but I did not let that stop me. I just hobbled around the hotel and attended as many of the workshops and roundtable discussions that I could, and whatever else I was drawn to participate in. In my haste, going from one place to another, I fell. I was more embarrassed than hurt, you know, ego and all, and the fall probably aggravated my pain, I’m sure.

I attended the first half of the program but I could not sit still. I was up and down the aisles pacing, trying to get some relief from the pain. Someone I knew was serving as a Door Host and as I stood next to him, he massaged my back. When I felt less pain I slowly made my way back to my seat. Finally settled in, a lady sitting next to me introduced herself and we talked. She observed my discomfort and at the time, said very little about it. It was almost time for the speaker onstage and in all my pain I knew that I would not hear the talk, again. Just as I was about to leave my seat to go to my hotel room, the lady sitting next to me whispered that she was a Massage Therapist.

She told me whispered that she’d asked her Inner Master and the Viraigi Masters permission to massage my back and that they’d agreed. Those of you who may not be familiar with the term Viraigi Masters, they are ancient spiritual adepts known in every age as the “Just Men of the Sacred Scriptures.” Divine Spirit is not intrusive in our lives and will not render unto you help unless invited to do so. So, she lady asked my permission to massage my lower back and I didn’t hesitate to nod yes, thinking only that I’d probably get just enough relief to hear the talk at best.

As the speaker began his talk, the stranger sitting next to me, took her hand and moved her hand in a circular motion just above my lower back, not actually touching me. Immediately I felt heat that started at my lower back, radiating down to my lower extremities, it felt like a giant heating pad. When she removed her hand from that area of my lower back, the pain had vanished, and I was able to enjoy the rest of the program and the seminar.

This was a gift from Divine Spirit, given to me through this stranger from Idaho. Divine Spirit gave me this gift of healing because it was the right time and I was in the right place to receive it. That is just one experience in receiving Divine help that is around all the time. The Word is true, “Ask and it shall be given.”

Blessings,

Brenda

So many lessons, so many blessings and all I have to say is, Thank You and say how Grateful I am to have the guidance, love and protection of my Inner Master that resides within me. I want to let you know that I remain dedicated to truth, my own truth, Divine Spirit, and I continue to seek freedom and above all, love. I’ve cutback on service outside of my family. I’ve been pursuing one of my lifelong dreams of becoming a homeowner. I continue to giveback to my spiritual community and the community in which I live but I’ve found balance. I conscientiously practice my spiritual exercises and I make myself available to do whatever I am asked to do and do what I am able to do for my personal and spiritual growth and for my family.

I am happy to say that I am in the flow of the Universe, Divine Spirit, because my lifelong dream of becoming a homeowner has come to fruition. The closing our new home is schedule for August 29, 2005. Thank you. I am grateful for being in accord with God’s Will and God’s perfect plan for me. Thank you for showing me Thy ways. The move to Phoenix, Arizona will soon be underway. I am happy to report that I have been able to ride the waves of change much better than I’ve ever done before in this lifetime. I am really surprised at how active my inner experiences have been these past few months in spite of upheavals and stuff. I count it all joy. I am constantly grateful. Many people have disappeared from my world. I no longer fret about it and for me, that’s progress. Now, I find myself being less judgmental about people. I am making progress in that area a little at a time. I am endeavoring to allow people, especially people that makeup my world, to have experience their own unique experiences without judging them or second guessing or assuming what their intentions, motives or their deeds and actions are, including my own.

Because my focus has been on reaching my personal goals I’ve been absent from participating in Intro Presentations at my Spiritual Center for the past few months. But I was blessed with a wonderful opportunity last month to participate in an Intro Talk and although all signs pointed to my not being able to meet that commitment because I could not find time to adequately prepare, I surrendered the strict deadlines to prepare my presentation to the highest power and I went to the Intro, gave my presentation, and everything unfolded just as it should. I was surprised at how much I missed sharing truths are working in my life, how I’ve come to love my life, and the realization of how blessed I truly am.

Blessings,

Dear Friend,

When I read this quote”As we face ourselves, we begin to recognize that a certain thing has held us back from the next step on the path to God. Finally we realize we don’t need that particular problem anymore…” it was like a light bulb had lit up for me. My first thought was that in a lot of areas it’s myself that holds me back, the ego. Not my true self.

Truly, I know, at times, that I don’t necesssarily need that particular problem, whatever the problem is, yet I find that I hold onto it, mostly becuase I am not aware that I am doing so. In my contemplation I came upon my own solution–to approach the problem or challenge with less self-absorption, less selfishness.

What has been rolling around in my Being is a lyric, “take me as I am or have nothing at all…” I applaud my husband. For over 27 years he takes me as I am, who I am. Years ago he said that he wouldn’t want to change me in any manner, else I wouldn’t be my true self. I’m sure he appreciates how I strive to become the best that I can be, with all my faults and weaknesses. God takes me as I am. What more acceptance do I need? I am what I am. God is. I AM. I am reminded, of course, that I am not always who I am truly, fully, or wholly, a divine spark of God, and that brings me back to my center.

I read a passge from Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth - Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose’” on the power of I AM. I therefore declare that, I Am Soul. Soul is eternal. I AM open to receive all the blessings that God has stored for me for so long. They are here right now. I AM responsible for all that I have, all that I have created and all that I AM creating.

I will be introducing an E-Course on the Power of I AM. I hope you will join me.

Blessings,
